Whatta Week
Tuesday, for those of you familiar with my situation, was the day the Army chose to nail Sergeant First Class upon my undeserving collar. OK, my collar deserved it wholeheartedly – I was making an unsuccessful bid to be humble. Let’s move past that quickly, shall we? Anyway, it was an awesome day, as my friends, family and coworkers gathered around the silly interview set at SRTV as Rich Greene and my wife pinned the new rank on my uniform. I gotta say that it was a pretty awesome experience. After going to ANCOC and being in the minority, which is not attending as a SFC, I felt like I was more than ready for the big day.
Not to mention that I decided not to continue the tradition of lame promotion parties at SRTV – bringin deli trays or frickin’ hot dogs. We catered the damn thing to the tune of almost 300 bones. Expensive, but that was some DAMN good chicken. Afterward, I carried my son to the bathroom and caught a look in the mirror with that three up two down action going on… and I almost felt grown up.
Now, what happened the rest of the week – Thursday specifically – will have to be for another column. Suffice it to say that once the Army decides to tell everyone, you’ll understand [DELETED AFTER SECURITY REVIEW].
