I'm a Senior Drill Sergeant of a Basic Combat Training platoon at Ft. Benning, GA. Before I put on the most uncomfortable piece of headgear the Army has offered since the Ridgeway cap, I was a Broadcast Public Affairs Chief. As a broadcaster, I've been stationed with American Forces Korea Network in Seoul and Uijongbu, Korea, the American Forces Network in Heidelberg, Germany, and Soldiers Radio and Television in Alexandria, VA. Those three assignments allowed me to report from the Korean DMZ, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, Iraq, and the tsunami-ravaged areas of Thailand and Sri Lanka. Describing Drill Sergeant duty as a change of pace for me is like calling Bill Gates “well off.” I’m a work in progress as a drill – you can follow the ups and down of the job right here.
