Been Awhile...
I’ve had remarkably few problems with either my peers or the leadership – I guess I’m “getting it” now, and not being timid as I supposedly was before. I chalked it up to inexperience, but that excuse didn’t wash very well with ol’ 1SG, lemmee tellya.
I dodged a bullet a few weeks ago, though. I was actually looking at getting removed from the trail for a bum knee. Most people I know would think that was a cover for troop abuse or something, but really, I have a bad knee that’s been plaguing me since day one and it came to a head in the first week or so of the cycle. The bad boy swelled up on me to the point where I wasn’t able to bend it completely. Not to mention the whole lack of discernable detail on top of the knee due to excessive swelling. Yuk.
Well, I bobbed and weaved around a P-2 profile and am now walking and running when possible. The other DS’s are taking care of me by putting me on van driving duty when they can and not running me to death. I really can’t thank them enough for that!
So, a little less than three weeks left in the cycle. The final PT test is Thursday, Convoy Live Fire is Friday, and the final FTX starts in a week. I’m actually a little sad it’s progressing this quickly… I kinda like these guys and their little peccadilloes. I know, though, that I need to get them gone and get started on the next batch… each cycle brings me closer and closer to the end.
On the personal front, I joined a gym this morning, so well see if Gold’s Gym can do for me what PT cannot… get in under the weight table!
